AN EVENING with SANDRA RAST

Friday Night was a wonderful night here at the gallery. Bountiful artist Sandra Rast was here with originals of her Florals.

Here she is pictured with two of the originals. They are wonderful vibrant paintings.

In addition to the floral paintings Sandra brought her newest painting "Miracle of the Quail". It of course is the story of starving pioneers. They were very poor people who were not as prepared as they should have been for the trip. They prayed to the Lord for food and they were blessed with flocks of Quail that actually flew into
their camps and saved their lives.

This is an actual documented account taken from journals of pioneers.

We will have some of her originals up for a while.

The SHOW with Scott Gustafson

What a great night we had. Some of our young art students came to see and talk to a real artist. For those of you who have not met Scott, he is very gracious and spent time with each fan.

At the end of the show I received a call from a Grandmother of one of Scott's fans. She mentioned that her grandson has come to the show, met Scott, then went home and told his grandmother he had seen a " REAL ARTIST". She thanked us for having Scott, and thanked him for being so nice to a young boy.

Here Scott is explaining his creative process to a young family. It is fascinating to hear the details of creating these wonderful paintings.

The young girl was quite the artist herself. She and I drew a picture of a garden (complete with worms) while her parents decided on which books to purchase.

Scott did sign some extra books which we have in the Repartee Gallery.

Davis High with Scott Gustafson

Scott started his day with us in Utah at Davis High School. He gave a lecture accompanied with slides of the evolution of his career.

He was the guest of Mr. Atkin and had another class join the lecture.

The visit to the High School was coordinated by Brent Severe, Executive Director of the Davis Education Foundation.

In this picture Scott ( on the left) and Brent show their excitement and enthusiasm for returning to work with students, and I'm sure having me take their picture.

Scott was at the High School for a little over an hour. We hope the students enjoyed seeing the samples of his art and learning a little about the time and dedication needed to produce high quality art.

Scott Gustafson AT DAVIS HIGH - This Friday

I know I have gone back and forth on this information, but Davis High School is the location where Scott Gustafson will be talking to a combined group of Art classes. He will be there for the class which starts at 12:50pm.

Scott is well known as an illustrator and this will be a great opportunity for students of art to ask questions of a successful artist.

Later that evening he will be at Repartee Art Gallery to sign books, prints, and limited edition prints. We will also have a few originals here in the gallery.

The Gallery show starts at 6pm and goes until 8pm. We hope to see you then.

This FRIDAY - Dec 3rd- Scott Gustafson 6pm-8pm

Come and meet the talented and imaginative artist Scott Gustafson. He will be in the Bountiful Repartee Art Gallery on Friday Night....yes, this Friday.

In the afternoon he will presenting a lecture to an Art Class at Bountiful High School. The presentation will be at 1:00pm.

For years Repartee has brought Scott to Utah for shows. His art is creative, playful and the artist himself is delightful.

His sense of humor is quite evident in his small works painting of the Fox guarding the Hen house. You can see by the expression of the hens that they don't feel safe!!

Any questions you may contact me at janet@reparteegallery.com or call the gallery at 801-296-0718.

See you on Friday !!!

Home of Liz Lemon Swindle

I'm not sure how many of you know this, but Repartee Gallery is the home gallery for artist Liz Lemon Swindle. Pictured here is one of Liz's newest paintings. It is such a peaceful picture.

All of Liz's paintings are available through the Repartee Galleries.

One of my biggest goals for the Bountiful gallery is to promote Utah Artists. I have been told that Utah has more well know artists per capita than any other state. We have such good art programs at our colleges and universities.

We can be reached at 801-296-0718 if you have any questions or are trying to locate a specific piece of art.

There is a saying which I may have mentioned before..."if walls could talk"...I believe they do talk. What you hang in your home reflects your values. It brings a certain feeling to your home, creates the mood and atmosphere.

It is our hope to help you deliberately set the tone and mood of your home. Let the wonderful artists of Utah help also. If you are interested in the picture above you can click on the following link:

FRAME Now for Christmas

Now is the time to bring in your framing projects. There are about tweleve (12) days left to guarantee that your treasured picture will be ready for Christmas. If you are anything like me, there are quite a few photos that you have never taken the time to get framed.

Next ART SHOW- Scott Gustafson

Friday night Dec. 3rd our friend, SCOTT GUSTAFSON will be in the gallery from 6pm- 8pm. He will actually be visiting Bountiful High School in the afternoon to visit with the ART Department and students.

Last year Scott came and visited another High School in the area and taught an art class. We are always pleased with his willingness to share his talent and experience with new and upcoming artists.

This is one of Scott's recognized paintings titled "Santa in his Study". The amount of detail in his paintings is wonderful.

Santa sure has a lot going on in his study!

This is one of his newer releases "Woodland Santa". I feel chilly just looking at this picture. Here in Utah we will soon be experiencing some snow just like this and maybe even deeper!

If you need any more information on the show or want to order his art, you can reach us at 801-296-0718.

Paul Cezanne study in ART CLASS

Today, being Veterans Day was a quiet day in Art Class. Our two students started their study of Paul Cezanne which will take a least two lessons to finish.

We are doing an impressionistic study of shape, and the students chose to paint Tea Sets.

It is really fun to see these pictures evolve as they do a sketch then block their colors and use concepts they learned in previous classes. We have just a few classes left before we take a break for the Christmas season.

Each of the students have progressed quite a bit this year. Painting is so relaxing and it is fun to see everyone enjoy their creations.

ART CLASS TODAY

Today in Art Class we were studying shadow and
light. We are replicating Rene Magritte's "Son of Man".

For those of you not familiar with that by name, it is the famous picture of a man with an apple in front of his face.

Today's assignment was to choose a piece of fruit, most choices were apples, pumpkins and cherries. Pastels were the medium and everyone in the class now has very colorful hands...pastel does wash off. After the class was finished their pictures looked very very pretty. They are becoming quite good at these different challenges and assignments.

ARTIST CASSANDRA BARNERY

Cassandra Barney has just released these fine art small works called Ex Votos, which means little expressions of gratitude. As explained by her publisher, Greenwich Workshop," Today Ex Vetos are most widely known as the folk art works created on tin and found in shrines across Mexico"

This first one is "Bounties of the Earth", for all of the gardeners who know the joy of a successful garden.

"These little artworks are painted out of gratitude for the miracles, protection and prayers answered not only in my life, but for many of us" says the artist.

The second one is titled "Dance" and the third one is called "To Never Ending Love". I find this last one particularly suitable for Wedding gifts.

We have them on display and available in our gallery. Cassandra will be at the Bountiful Gallery on Saturday November 13th from 6pm to 8pm. If you would like any additional information, please call the gallery at 801-296-0718.

We hope you will come and meet Cassandra.

Saturday, October 30, 2010

Recently I had a young group of girls come into the gallery and ask me to get some small pictures of LDS temples. They wanted pictures they would be able to take with them to college and apartments as they started life away from home.
And so....here they are....

One of my favorite photographers of LDS Temples is Bob Boyd. The first one I have pictured here is the Logan Temple. It is quite a magnificent structure poised on a hilltop with an incredible view of the valley. It is quite beautiful.

The second picture is the Bountiful Temple. Located on the side of a mountain, this temple is visible for many miles and seen by many travelers as they fly into the Salt Lake City airport from the North.

This particular photograph is a front view of the temple. Most travelers going past Bountiful on Interstate 15 would see the West or back view of the Temple.

Children's ART Class

Today our Children's Art Class painted Bottle People. Every once in a while we take a break from painting Monet, Van Gogh, Chagall, and Georgia O'Keefe to paint something fun and whimsical.

Our class enjoyed painting today.

New Hot Artist

Over the past two years I have been delighted to see the work of Artist R. Tom Gillean, represented by Greenwich Workshop. His latest work titled "In The Shadow Of the Sixth"is pictured here. I have always been fascinated with Tepees. There is something magical and captivating about them.

The simplicity of these paintings has increasing appeal to collectors of Western Art. I have been aware of his art since June of 2009. Each new release seems to sell out more quickly than the last since his edition sizes are quite small. This giclee is anticipated to have only 20 available in the large Museum Edition.

Another recent release is "Little Star People". This piece portrays the visit of Fireflies on a warm Summer night with the full moon rising over the mountain. I grew up in an area of the country where Fireflies were abundant. I loved to try to catch them and still can spend hours
watching them dance around the lawn.

I'm not sure if it was the memory of the Fireflies or my fascination with the Tepee, but I couldn't resist purchasing this one for my own art collection.
